Welcome to the “Biz Apps Partner Podcast,” a weekly video series designed to decentralize intelligence about how partners can scale their Microsoft practice by having short, to the point discussions with Microsoft leaders in product, engineering, marketing, partner management, programs, and more.

In this episode, John Siefert is joined by Greg Kaupp, CEO, ArcherPoint to discuss the value of partners, how customers can stay up to speed with ecosystem trends, and how to achieve business results by stopping the things that aren’t working.

Key Takeaways

  • Value of partners: Greg reflects on repeated mistakes within organizations and notes that sharing knowledge amongst the community and with other partners is a key way to avoid pitfalls. Growth challenges are not unique to Microsoft partners but common across all industries, and Greg suggests openness and community learning as a solution to boost collective progress.
  • Ecosystem trends: Greg describes the evolution of cloud technology from 2009 to 2024, noting the significant maturity and multi-platform capabilities achieved. Similar to cloud technology, he discusses the current state of AI, acknowledging that while there is innovation, many mid-market clients are yet to fully embrace AI due to security concerns and the need for the technology to become more accessible. As such, security has become time of mind for customers, too.
  • Getting customers up to speed: The way to stay ahead of trends is to recognize the importance of foundational business practices over technology in achieving success, emphasizing customer service, accountability, and clear processes. For example, when working with a customer, start conversations by addressing their current frustrations to better understand their needs. Similarly, in order to achieve something remarkable, businesses must identify what to stop doing.
  • Prioritize success, remove redundancy: Without clear decisions on what to replace eliminated business operations with, there’s a risk of filling time with more unnecessary tasks. Instead, Greg suggests that the focus should be on stopping operations in order to drive value effectively for customers and collaborating for greater chances of success.
  • Connect with Greg: Register for the Biz Apps Partner Summit, happening July 24-25 in Bellevue, Washington to meet Greg Kaupp and learn how to dazzle customers, get insights into Microsoft’s FY 2025 priorities, and scale your Microsoft Business Applications practice.
